If our courses are full you may still inquire about semi-private or private courses
Want to learn how to scuba dive and get certified for an upcoming tropical vacation? Many of our students want to get their academic and pool training here at our facility, but would like to finish their Open Water training dives with another PADI facility in warmer waters.
You can do this through our Open Water Referral Course during which you partake in the academics and pool sessions that are a standard part of the Open Water course. You can also upgrade to the full Open Water Program during the course should you decide that you wish to complete your scuba training in Vancouver. Often people find that they are more comfortable completing the certification with us after they have started to course so we remain flexible to give you this option as you progress. If you do decide to finish your course elsewhere, we provide you with official documentation that any active PADI Instructor and/or facility around the world will recognize and be able to continue on with your certification. Referrals are intended to be completed within a year of the start date, but it is recommended that you complete your ocean dives even sooner after your academics and confined water training to ensure that your skills and knowledge is fresh.
Complete your Open Water Referral program in Vancouver in a weekend with IDC!
Did you know that IDC’s PADI Open Water Referral includes not only all personal gear for the course, your eLearning and your certification fee? These are often charged as add-ons at other facilities in BC and abroad and can add up to over $100. IDC has no hidden course fees. We provide quality training for the price advertised.
Thursday Night Orientation Session, students are expected to attend an orientation on the Thursday before the first course weekend from 6pm to 8pm. This will be a very important information session which will allow you to meet your fellow dive buddies, complete your paperwork, get sized up for your gear, ask questions, and get a detailed rundown of how the course will run. We will also discuss some basic diving concepts and introduce you to the equipment you’ll use.
- 10:00AM Saturday at International Diving Centre for orientation, paperwork and class. You will need to have completed ALL of your E-Learning course work prior to the course start date. You will also need to bring a swimsuit and towel.
- 10:00AM Sunday at International Diving Centre for Drysuit upgrade & class/final review.
Pool training follows classroom work on the first Saturday & Sunday of the Open Water & Open Water Referral Courses.
- 1pm – on deck for gear assembly, briefings. Please be changed and ready on the pool deck by 1pm.
- 2pm – in water for pool training.
- Pool sessions end at 4 or 5pm depending on course option selected. Please allow time to rinse and pack up gear and get changed.
Pool dives are for skill introduction and development and to gain familiarity and comfort with the equipment involved in scuba diving. We keep our student to instructor ratios low to ensure that all students are able to progress at a steady but comfortable rate with plenty of feedback.
The pool is a heated, indoor pool with changing facilities, parking and showers.
